The team at the University of British Columbia and Harvard Business School found that if you spend 5 dollars on someone else a day, you will be more happier.
The study on more than 630 American showed that people are happier when they spend money on others, even though they think spending the money on themselves will make them happier.
A psychologist at the University of British Columbia, Elizabeth Dunn said:� We try to prove that the way of spending money is at least as important as earning money.�
Researchers asked the 600 volunteers to evaluate their total sense of happiness and report their annual income and detail their monthly spending including the bills, spending on buying presents for themselves or others and charity donation.
Dunn claimed in a statement:� No matter how much they earn those who spent money on others reported greater happiness, while the people who spent more money on themselves did not.�
Dunn�s group also surveyed the different 16 employees at a company in Boston before and after they received an annual profit-sharing bonus of between $US3000 and $US8000. The researchers mentioned in the report:� After they received their bonus, they will be happier when they spend money on others. The ways of spending this bonus have greater effect on happiness than how much the money is.� This report was published in journal
