Lower housing cost and help for local business owners are some benefits for continuing the growth, but some are concerned more growth will spoil the peacefulness they have come to know.

Beauty abounds here like what we would all picture paradise to be like, so it may be difficult for the natives to want to share, but that's a bit selfish. The development has to be balanced so that there isn't a flood of developers coming in, overdeveloping the area and ruining the natural beauty of the region.

The developers of all types have submitted over 3000 requests to develop industry and subdivisions, this creates quite a logjam for the Coasts council. They will need to be picky as they evaluate these requests, industry brings jobs but they also might ruin some of the beauty that nature has given this area. Some development is alright though as some subdivisions are more attractive than the original patch of land where it started.

At the present time the local Bligh government would be amenable to brining in 75,000 more people. But there must be an appropriate infrastructure for all these new people and some incentives for the current populace.

The issues will take a while to figure out but a regular growth rate along with business increases and the new populace will make the area better functioning, and this will help keep tourism happening. No one wants the Sunshine Coast like the Gold Coast but most of the people here would feel a controlled growth has to happen for the region to maintain itself.
