Mumbai and Pune have been considered as the destinations for Business Management Education by many aspirants from across the country. This has emerged as the hub of education owing to being in/near the business capital of the country that gives the required practical exposure to this professional programme.
Most of the Business Schools in this region draw clinical faculties from industry as also this region has the talent pool of the best academicians in Business Management Education.
Nearness to the work place has helped Mumbai/Pune bring practice in the classroom very easily and the transition of student to the professional happens very naturally and automatically as against the destinations that run B-Schools away from Business centers not discounting even the difficulties of IIMs located in remote destinations that had to work very systematically to overcome the locational disadvantage.
The B-schools treated as the training grounds for transformation towards lifetime careers have done an appreciable job in Western part of the country. Industrial houses, consulting companies Academicians and industry experts have played important roles in setting up autonomous institutes that offer PGDM courses in the region. The autonomy of syllabus and assessments accompanied by innovative approaches have lead to a positive response to these programmes that go beyond the functional specialization and are more attuned to making the management and student industry-ready on day 1.
Students see the real Return-On-Investments (ROI) in most of these autonomous institutes as these institutes have played a pivotal role in transformation and the testimonials from industry professionals who have readily accepted these students at good compensations and to take up challenging and innovative positions in the industry.
Institutes that have taken the route of autonomy have chosen this wholeheartedly fully aware that this puts them out in the open with the only yardstick of sustenance, growth and progress as being but the very best. They have clearly emerged as the leaders over the years with the likes of Welingkar, SP Jain, Somaiya and many more new ones who followed the suite in recent times with a passion to contribute in the economic development by providing the most knowledgeable manpower to the industry.
The admission process for these autonomous PGDM institutes that are AICTE approved commence on a common platform from 2nd June 2011. It is an effort of Consortium of Management Education (COME) that brings them under one single roof for the admission through a single window system.
