Designers like Yves Saint Laurent are considered to be the pioneers of modern haute couture culture. At present, several designers have earned quite some reputation for themselves in the world of fashion and designer clothing like Giorgio Armani, Gianni Versace, Prada, Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, and Vivienne Westwood. Fashion models, film celebrities and other sports stars have further made these designer clothes more popular.
Advantages of dealing in designer clothes:
The best thing about branded or top quality designer clothing is that they are of high quality. The designers or brand managers of designer clothing never let low quality clothing go forward because they ensure perfect quality to maintain the reputation. The benefit that clothing suppliers have in this case, is that they do not have to worry about low quality or sub-standard clothing. Due to extreme marketing and advertisement of designer clothing; the elite class have become passionate about designer clothing and are willing to pay what the retailers demand.
Except a few top clothing designers, most of the brands have made their prices competitive, so that more people would be attracted. With competitive market rates, dealing in designer clothing has become a profitable niche and needs considerably less marketing efforts.
Another advantage of designer clothing is that due to their high quality, they last much longer than other cheap alternatives. Inexpensive clothing is not only less durable due to poor quality clothing materials but also lacks quality in cutting, stitching, finish, fitting, etc. Hence, designer clothing actually proves to be cheaper in the long run and people now have started noticing this fact.
Disadvantages of dealing in designer clothes:
One of the major downsides of dealing in designer wholesale clothing is that mostly reputed designer clothing is quite expensive and wholesalers need a lot of capital money to invest in. Due to high price, the lower class and the middle class, which constitutes to be the major portion of the society, is unable to buy designer clothing. This drastically reduces the sales volume that wholesale suppliers can generate.
The recession and increasing inflation has increased the cost of living for people, reducing their purchasing power. Many designer clothing brands, which were not so popular, have ended up bankrupted and wholesalers dealing in those brands have also seen the same fate.
All in all, it can be said that dealing in wholesale designer clothing has its perks. Being successful in this niche can mean lots of revenue but failing to do so can have its consequences.
