In today’s day and age there are gadgets that do just about everything for you. Mobile phones, PDA’s, Blackberry’s and laptops make keeping in contact much easier and help immensely with work commitments. Unfortunately a survey carried out by the Friends Provident has revealed that so called ‘time saving’ gadgets are becoming the major factor to the death of the weekend.

The survey revealed that 43% of people felt just as busy at the weekend as they did during the week, due to the fact that they are constantly contactable. ‘Time saving’ devices can be handy but they can also mean that you are always contactable, leaving no time for your personal life.

36% of people surveyed feel busier than ever due to their ‘time saving’ gadgets, that’s one in three Brits! 40% of men and 33% of women are being made busier due to the technology they rely on. With 34% of the nation believing that it is fashionable to be busy its no surprise that people aren’t switching off and relaxing.

So all you work-aholics out there, remember there are more important things in life than work. Switch off your mobile phone, laptop and other gadgets once in a while and enjoy a well earned break. Just remember ‘time saving’ gadgets may save time whilst in work, but once it hits home time switch them off, as they won’t save your personal time!
