All of us experience some pain or funny feelings in our teeth from time to time. But how do you know when its time to see your local dentist? It can be tough to tell by yourself, but here are some major warning signs.

Tooth Pain And Sensitivity

This is the number one sign you need to head to your dentist. Any sensitivity or pain in the teeth might be something bad - like a cavity! Cavities are easy to fill, but one is left untreated, your treatment might be upgraded to root canal, and that's not so pleasant or easy.

It might not be that bad. Pain or sensitivity might just be the wearing down of enamel. This is not a serious problem and it's very easy to treat. The only way to be sure is to see your expert and let them have a look.

Bleeding Gums

If your gums bleed when you brush or floss, this is a sign that you need to see the dentist. It could just be that you're not flossing right, or you're brushing too hard. Or, it could be much more serious. You might have the beginnings of gingivitis.

Gingivitis is when the gums become inflamed. Your expert can give you products to help treat it and get your gums back to normal. If untreated, it can become really serious and lead to periodontis, a more advanced jaw and gum disease. The only way to know for sure is to see your dentist.

Go For Regular Check-ups

I hate to tell you this, but you should go to the dentist anyway, even if there's nothing wrong! Dentists recommend visiting their clinics about once every six months. Prevention is the best treatment, and getting something fixed before it gets bad can mean no drilling or expensive dental reconstruction work. Go for your regular check-ups and you can ensure your teeth will be in great shape.

If in doubt, make an appointment. It can never hurt to let them check your teeth. They can also recommend products and new methods to keep your teeth healthy and looking good. Your dentist is trained in doing what it takes to make your smile shine.
