When everything fails to repair corrupt InnoDB Database

There are times when even after doing everything systematically, things go wrong. So is the case with working on MySQL database. You might be changing any code, creating any code, running a query, attaching a file, or performing any other task, suddenly when you encounter a corruption error message.

Few common reasons for the error message could be MySQL bugs, virus attacks, server failure, and human errors. For such corruption scenarios, MySQL automatically performs a crash recovery process that fixes most of the corrupted database and brings back the database in running state. While MySQL crash recovery process proves successful in most cases, there might be few cases when the database remains in corrupted state and the user is unable to access the records. In such cases, a complete online/offline backup helps the user to get rid of corruption. However, if in case the database user has not created any backup of the database, then s/he is in big trouble. Probably, that is the only place where a third-party MySQL recovery application helps to get past the after-effects of corruption.

To explain the above case in detail, lets take a practical scenario where you execute a query to modify some of your InnoDB database records. While the query was executing, power failure occurred and after a while when you turn on your computer, you encounter the below error message while mounting your database:

"InnoDB: Database was not shut down normally!
InnoDB: Starting crash recovery.
InnoDB: Reading tablespace information from the .ibd files...
InnoDB: Restoring possible half-written data pages from the double write
InnoDB: buffer...
100125 23:19:51 InnoDB: Started; log sequence number 0 115363767
100125 23:19:51 [Note] Event Scheduler: Loaded 0 events...."

Since the same error message popped up every time you tried to mount your database, you are unable to access the records. Furthermore, the crash recovery also fails to repair your database. To repair your database, since you have not maintained any database backup, you run the below command:

"InnoDB_Force_Recovery=4"

But, the command also failed to repair the database.

In such cases, it is advisable to use a third-party MySQL database repair application.

MySQL database repair application Information:

Such tools are extremely easy to use as they do not require any technical expertise. The database users need not worry about the database records as the original database remains untouched and unmodified. Moreover, these MySQL repair applications are competent enough to repair both InnoDB and MyISAM databases.
