When people produce printed catalogs, they put a lot of strange things in their cover. However, there are a few very standard or even fundamental elements in catalog covers that make catalog a decent one for people to see. |

1. Premiere products
The most important thing that you can put into the cover of your color catalogs is your premiere product. Your premiere product is basically your flagship or the product that is most expensive and epitomizes your best talent in manufacturing or production. These are your front “models” that shows the best of the best of what you have. You must always show these things to people since they are the most impressive that you have got. For most catalog covers it is best to have at least one of your premiere products on there to encourage people to see and buy.
2. Page teasers
Another important thing to put into the catalog cover are small texts or page teasers that lead people way from the cover to a specific page within the catalog. Teasers are a good way to advertise more content in a catalog so that people know what more to expect besides the stuff in the cover. It adds content to the catalog cover making it fuller and more complete.
3. Power words
Power words also play a big role in catalog covers. Words like “Sale”, “Discount”, “Rebate” and “zero percent interest” are all very great power words that people respond to immediately. Many catalogs get picked up just because some of these power words are printed in its cover. So if you still have space, do not forget to place power words in your catalog cover to make it better and more successful.
4. Helpful information and tips
Also as a service to your readers, never forget to post pages for helpful information and tips in the cover. People like learning things even from catalogs and magazines. Having a small teaser about tutorials in your catalogs is a great way to attract people to read the brochure. Since it is very useful people might even decide to keep the brochure indefinitely so that the catalog can be referenced in future times. That is why you must not forget to advertise your other more useful content in the cover as well. People will more likely read your catalogs because of it.
5. The lifestyle
Finally, all catalog covers must always project a lifestyle. A lifestyle is basically your marketing angle for your products. Lifestyles basically try to impress people and encourage them to buy products so that they can live that certain lifestyle as well. This is done through proper layouts and designs for your catalog cover. You can try to be cool, sophisticated, techie, nerdy, sporty and all other lifestyles in the spectrum. This must always appear in your cover so that you can keep to the theme of your marketing strategy efficiently.
So do not forget to always have these five elements present in your catalog cover. This should make the cover better and more complete.
