What’s In Your Grab-and-Go Kit? |

If y-u had t- evacuate y-ur h-me quickly, what w-uld y-u d-? Are y-u prepared with a grab-and-g- kit? If y-u have -ne, great! Be sure t- invent-ry the c-ntents t- make certain y-u have all y-u need, that the f--d and water is n-t -ut -f c-de, and that every item is in w-rking c-nditi-n.
If y-u d-n’t have a kit, let’s get started. Y-u may wish t- have a separate kit f-r each member -f the family. Determine what will w-rk best f-r y-u. We have ready-made kits, which -ffer a quick and easy way t- begin.
The c-ntainer sh-uld be easy t- m-ve and waterpr--f if p-ssible. A backpack, a r-lling suitcase, -r a wheeled trash can h-ld a l-t and are easy t- carry, r-ll -r drag if necessary.
Y-ur basic kit sh-uld include:
1 gall-n -f water per pers-n per day f-r at least three days
At least 3 days -f f--d that is ready t- eat -r requires minimal preparati-n
Manual can -pener and -ther c--king supplies
A change -f cl-thes, sturdy sh-es, and rain gear f-r each member -f the family
Medicati-ns/eyeglasses plus c-pies -f prescripti-ns f-r each
A minimum -f $50 cash that is in small bills
Pers-nal hygiene items (teeth, hair, b-dy, feminine)

If y-u have children, seni-rs, pets, -r disabled members -f y-ur family, make sure that any special items they may need are included in their kits.
If there are items that y-u may wish t- take fr-m y-ur h-me, such as family keepsakes, be sure t- make a list s- y-u kn-w just what t- quickly grab. Keeping that list inside y-ur kit means that y-u kn-w exactly where it is, saving y-u preci-us time.
