Tartar deposition below the gums is called subgingival. Untreated tartar can cause inflammation of gums. Inflammation of gums is the main reason of bad breath. Mineral deposits can also accelerate the formation plaque. It is very easy to prevent mineral deposition on the teeth. One of the methods of tartar prevention is proper dental hygiene. You should regularly brush and floss your teeth in between the meals. This will keep your teeth white and healthy. It is a good idea to visit a dentist regularly. Some people report tartar despite proper dental hygiene.
There are many reasons for tartar build-up. People suffering from diabetes and other systemic diseases are at greater risk of plaque and tartar formation.
