What is life |
||||
Life therefore is the period during which something functions or is in effect.
Therefore, life your primary possession, which initializes your sojourn into your destiny. You will vividly remember the adage, ‘when there is life, there is hope’.
The bible says in John 10:10b, ‘I am come that they might have life and have it more abundantly’.
Why do you need to have life and have it more abundantly? This is because life is the primary possession that forms the basis for every other possession. It is only when you have life that you feel the urge to fulfill all your other desires, a good wife or husband, nice children, good house, fine cars and all the other luxuries of life.
Another reason why you need to have life more abundantly is because the longer you stay, if your live your life positively the more lives you will impact.
Some people will say ‘it is not how long but how well’. I tend to disagree with this, if it can be long why it should be short, if it has to do with life. If life is well lived, why shouldn’t it be long so that it can impact as many lives as possible.
However, if it has to do with political positions or other offices, you can say it is not how long but how well.
A person who doesn’t have life is a dead person, and only the living can possess all the other possessions complimentary to life.
The Journey of life
The road of life is full of potholes that manifest in diverse forms of problems, be they incidental problems or self inflicted problems.
In the bible God had a perfect design for the children of Israel to leave Egypt after over four hundred and thirty years of servitude. He had already prepared a land of independence for them, ‘Canaan’ the promised land.
From the onset the journey the journey which should have taken them forty days from Egypt to the Promised Land eventually took them forty years.
After a series of false starts, the journey of the Israelites from the Egypt eventually to the Promised Land eventually started.
No sooner had they left Egypt did they encountered the first pot hole enroute their journey to the Promised Land. This pot hole happens to be an incidental one, which is the Red Sea; there is no way they could have got to their destination without crossing the red sea.
They had to leave Egypt for them to be free; the Lord had prepared a promised land for them, a land of freedom. Unfortunately, with the red sea ahead of them the host of the Egyptian army was advancing towards them from behind. Just like the saying ‘between the devil and the deep blue sea’.
The Lord who had designed their departure from Egypt knew that at some point they will come across the ton this red sea ‘pothole’
Whatever non-palatable situation you find yourself, you ought to always believe that there will be a way out.
The bible says in 1 Corinthians 10:13, ‘there hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it’.
You will realize that there is no situation in this life that you find yourself, from which you cannot remove yourself. The problem however is for you to really sit down, appraise the situation in order to identify the way out. In most cases, we are usually so concerned about getting out to the extent of forgetting that we need to find leads to get us out.
In line with the passage above, God made a way for the Israelites to pass through the red sea, that is survive that pothole. While on the other hand, he perished their adversaries in the red sea.
No sooner had they crossed the red sea, other potholes started surfacing on their path. Unfortunately these potholes happen to be as results of the manifestations of the human nature.
For every little discomfort the encounter they start to grumble, condemning their prophet who had led them out of Egypt. This happened to be their self inflicted problems, the man made potholes.
They never really reflected on the pothole of the red sea which God made them to overcome, could there be any other pothole on their path as frightening as the red sea.
The self inflicted problems, the man made potholes on their journey to the Promised Land eventually made them to wander in the wilderness for forty years.
Try to imagine an expedition to circumnavigate our world of today for forty years; the expedition will definitely go round the World many times.
