L-Glutamine is a wonder supplement in bodybuilding circles. It has so many benefits that it is a wonder that you don't hear more about it. L-Glutamine is an amino acid, which is important in metabolism, volumizing of cells, and the prevention of catabolism (where the muscles feed on themselves). These are just a few of the benefits, but you don't hear much about the l-glutamine side effects.

This is largely in part to the fact that there really aren't any side effects of l-glutamine. That doesn't mean that nobody ever has a problem with it. It just means that as a whole, you shouldn't experience any side effects.

Some people, however, are allergic to l-glutamine, and may experience adverse side effects. Some people, who are not actually allergic, may experience strange reactions - such as an overwhelming feeling of sleepiness. Others may experience a burst of nervous energy.

Some may experience diarrhea, which is currently the only known side effect of l-glutamine, and is usually only experienced when the person is taking too much l-glutamine each day. In this case, it is best to discontinue use of l-glutamine, until you feel better, and then try again with a lower dosage. Experts agree that it is safe to consume between 500 and 4000mg of l-glutamine each day.

Most experts agree that there are no real side effects of l-glutamine because it naturally occurs in the body. It also does not cause any health problems. However, as with anything else, when the levels of l-glutamine are too high, this can cause adverse problems.

In light of there not being any side effects of l-glutamine, there are numerous benefits - especially for bodybuilders. L-glutamine is essential to muscle growth, and it is an anti-catabolic amino acid, which prevents the muscles from feeding on themselves. It contains a growth hormone, it burns fat, it makes the brain more active, and stimulates the immune system. L-glutamine also aids in quicker recovery of damaged muscle tissue, which happens each time you workout.

However, when you work out, the levels of l-glutamine in your system decrease. This is why taking an l-glutamine supplement is so essential for bodybuilders. The amino acid itself does not have side effects; however, there are side effects of not having enough l-glutamine in your system.
