Website aims at taking the hassle out of finding teaching jobs in Chicago

Findteachingjobs was founded 6 years ago by Bruce Taylor, who currently teaches Economics, Social Studies and Physical Science at Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville, IL. The site was created after a frustrating experience at yet another job fair where teachers wait in line for hours only to find that there are no current openings.

Chicago, IL—In response to the overwhelming demand for teaching positions in Illinois, namely for teaching positions in Chicago and the Chicago suburbs, Bruce Taylor, an Economics teacher at Dundee-Crown High School, has created a website to make finding a teaching job much easier. The site, according to Taylor, takes the hassle out of finding a teaching job as it links those searching for positions directly to any openings. “With one quick search you are able to search all the districts in the state for your ideal teaching position and, once found, you are given the link directly to the opening. For those of us who have spent many frustrating hours searching through district websites, this will be seen as a tremendous time saver.”

Demand for teaching positions has really exploded recently as more graduates are seeking the relative security of the profession. This has resulted in sharp competition for what few positions are available. In such a competitive market, those looking for new positions really must utilize every opportunity to get an edge in the market.

Elementary teaching positions and teaching positions in Chicago have always been a safe haven for those looking for positions as there have, in the past, usually been a good number of those positions available. Such an assumption, however, cannot still be made as competition remains keen within all areas of education.

We asked Bruce Taylor what can potential future teachers do to increase their chances of securing a position. “Those searching really do need to realize that the competition for any available positions will be stiff and hopeful candidates really do need to make every effort to exploit every advantage they may have access to. In creating Findteachingjobs.com I set out to remove this frustration. I was tired of attending so many job fairs only to hear the same story, and I was tired of all the redundant searching for potential openings. There had to be a better way to the process and I wanted to make this easier for those currently looking.”

In reviewing Findteachingjobs the amount of time and frustration the site would save became immediately clear. Members are able to search for openings in specific fields or grades, for example Elementary teaching positions or high school teaching positions in Chicago. Users are also able to search for positions in specific areas of the state only, which is a great feature if you are looking for a specific location. By connecting users directly to specific openings, all of the redundant searching is eliminated. “When searching for my current position, I would find myself always going back to the same five or ten districts to search for openings, while missing many opportunities at other districts. Using Findteachingjobs.com allows the user to search all districts in a matter of seconds”, Taylor explains.
