Aside from the above mentioned reasons, Volvo target market has always been those who prefer the lucrative offerings possible in the modern automobile. The comfort of luxury car with all the amenities in place has attracted the rich and the powerful and it is these group of people that expect Volvo to deliver. Of course, this isn't a house being talked about, hence most of these features must be made available on the road.
A critical first step in providing comfort aside from providing soft cushioning on the seating lies in the car's suspension system. The suspension system is important because it is responsible for the stability of the car when it is in motion. The system usually consists of ball joints, coil springs, struts control arms and most importantly the shocks. Volvo shocks are engineered to regulate the up and down movement of the wheel and tire, thus bumpy roads or uneven terrain is hardly felt by the driver and passengers provided the shocks are functioning properly. Together with the rest of the suspension system, shocks are integral in maintaining handling and control despite the unevenness the car experiences.
Volvo shocks are subject to a ton of punishment, literally and figuratively. The car's chassis and all the the nuts and bolts, not to mention passengers combine for a strenuous bulk that the suspension and wheel must support and absorb, while still performing its basic function. As such, the tendency for shocks to eventually fail is likely, despite the durability of the part's engineering. Oil leaks, added bounciness or slight difficulty in maintaining control are sure symptoms of faulty Volvo shocks. It is advised that replacements should be sought out immediately should the need arise, as the result could be quite expensive if not fatal.
