Video surveillance is important in convenience stores such as 7-Eleven. Owners of the store can watch what's going on in the store. Whenever a felony occurs in the store, video cameras can record the incident and can be taken to court as evidence.
Managers, employers, and supervisors can use video surveillance to detect dishonest employees in office and commercial buildings.
All things considered, video recording is allowed in the United States. It could either be with or without permission. But video recording is illegal when these cases occur:
1. Video surveillance cameras are installed in bathrooms, motels, locker rooms, dressing rooms, and other personal places. Video surveillance cameras are not allowed in these personal places. Viewing somebody in full or partial nudity is also against the law in all states.
2. Video recording is accompanied by audio recording without the person's permission. video recording with audio is also regarded as under eavesdropping and wiretapping which are against the law. Recording conversations to which you aren't part of or don't have authorization to document is illegal.
Each state has its own rule on video surveillance. You must get authorization from the person in charge before making any video surveillance. It is illegal in some states when you do not get authorization to monitor your babysitter.
It is always a good idea to install video surveillance systems for your small business and home to ensure safety and security. Before doing so, you would have to consult with an attorney or any law enforcement agency if it's within the legal restrictions of the state.
