VASER Liposuction Recovery Time

VASER Hi Def Liposuction is different from other liposuction techniques because it combines the use of tumescent fluid and ultrasound technology.

The particulars of VASER provide a less invasive procedure, which means a faster and less uncomfortable recovery for the liposuction patient.

Tumescent fluid expands and numbs the treatment area. VASER is a gentler liposuction procedure. Because of the tumescent fluid, less trauma is caused to surrounding blood vessels and tissue. The reduced trauma results in a much more tolerable liposuction recovery.

Faster Recovery with VASER
Most liposuction procedures require six weeks or more of recovery. VASER patients generally return to work within two weeks and return to a full range of activity within three to four weeks.

The time required for VASER recovery depends on a number of factors, including:
• The size of the treatment area
• The number of treatment areas
• Your body's unique recovery process

Most people begin exercising and other moderate activity between two and four weeks after the procedure.

The healing process will continue for a number of months. Although you should have a good indication of the final result at four weeks, subtle changes will continue to take place over the next three to four months.

Less Pain and Discomfort during VASER Recovery
The VASER recovery is less painful and less uncomfortable than other liposuction procedures.

Tumescent fluid shrinks blood vessels, which reduces trauma to the blood vessels. As a result, less bleeding occurs under the skin, which reduces post-op bruising and associated discomfort.

VASER recovery is also less painful because it is ultrasound-assisted. During the procedure, a microscopic probe is inserted through a very small incision. The probe emits ultrasonic energy that liquefies fat cells. The fat is then easily suctioned away. In traditional lipo procedures, the fat cells are aggressively broken up with a tube-like device called a "cannula." Instead of emulsifying the cells, the cannula is passed back and forth to break the cells apart. This method tends to cause more trauma to the treatment area, which causes more post-operative pain and discomfort.

For any plastic surgery procedure, recovery varies by patient. You may respond quite differently to the VASER procedure, but the majority of patients experience a faster, less uncomfortable recovery. Talk to an experienced plastic surgeon to learn more about what you can expect from liposuction.
