Some travelers would like to be left alone in the airplane for a few hours. But the problem arises, when your neighbor would like to have a conversation with you and never stop. You can introduce yourself and sit down. But if you notice that your neighbor has quickly opened a book or have headphones on the head, it means that your neighbor is not interested in socializing with you. But there are some incessant talkers who can never be stopped.

Don’t bring newspaper with you when you travel on the plane. It would be better if you read it in the terminal. But if you insist on bringing the newspaper on the airplane, make sure you fold it so that you can provide some space to your co-passenger.

If you’re listening to the music on your iPod, Walkman or MP3 player, keep the volume down. Volume may be louder if the headset is not an ear bud. If you’re not sitting on an aisle seat, don’t lean on your co-passengers to look out of the window. If you are sitting on the right side of the plane and pilot says there’s an excellent view on the left, ask your fellow passengers if you can take a peek. If your co-passenger is reading something interesting, ensure that you don’t lean over him to read what it is. This can cause great discomfort for other passengers. Be mindful and respectful of other’s space.

Some passengers would like to have a cocktail in the flight just to relax. If you feel like having a cocktail remember in-take of oxygen in flight is slightly less at 36,000 feet and alcohol you consume hits fast and hard. If you find that your co-passenger has drunk a lot and their behavior is making you uncomfortable, just take a walk around the plane. Ask the flight attendant to find another seat for you.

An airplane with three seats has four armrests which means you have to share. Since you are sitting in the middle seat it doesn’t mean you have the right to use both armrests. Provide help to fellow passengers who have hard time reaching the overhead bins. Do not ring the call button unless it is an emergency. Have exact change for any on-board purchases. If you’re standing up to get a blanket out of the overhead bin, ask the passenger sitting next to you if he or she would like one.
