“Smith” is the person who shapes up the metal pieces, mold them into useful products which can then be utilized in an efficient manner and can be utilized in more complex structure for the safety and well being of human beings. Thus locksmithing is the designing of locks and their respective keys.

A lock secures the important documents, ornaments and other specialties of materialism with a key that is supposed to open that lock. With the advancement in technology, the locks have been divided into numerous categories. Some of which are as follows:

Child Safety Lock: This is a lock specially designed for cabinets, safe, and bottles e.t.c to prevent the children from getting towards these areas and get into any danger. Children are always attracted by bright colors and try to touch the things not knowing that they can be fatal for them.

Keycard lock: a keycard lock is accessed via keycard. It is a flat rectangular plastic card which is similar to that of a credit card. In this case, the person has to first pass out the key card from the rectangular detector which has two stripes at a considerable distance. When the keycard is passed through the detector and the machine detects that whether it’s the right lock or not, then the person is allowed to enter the area.

Types of Keycard: There are different types of keycards such as Bar Code, magnetic Strip, Smart Card, Id cards, proximity Cards and many more.

Chubb Detector Lock: it is the most accurate lock also known as lever tumbler lock with effective and integral security system. In unauthorized access to the lock, the lock not just gives alarm signals but also indicates the owner that someone is trying to misuse the lock. Moreover, the lock automatically jams and remains in that condition until the original key has been inserted.

Drawback: the main drawback of this lock is that once jammed and after that reopened than it becomes difficult for the owner even to reinstate it into the similar position.

Wafer Tumbler Lock: this lock is similar to Pin Tumbler lock but with some differences. This lock incorporates flat wafers that do not allow the particular object to open unless the correct key has been inserted.

Maison Key Lock: it is the most difficult one and the most used as well because it uses a couple of unique keys to be inserted into a single lock. It is the most used locking system in apartments, common areas such as laundry rooms and main entrances as well. Unlike the master key system, the Maison lock system is operated by every key in its system.

Electronic Lock: this is the most important lock but it should be handled with care as it requires electricity for its working.
