There are several different kinds of insurance policies to choose from, each having its own benefit. Some are:
• Medical Coverage
This is also broken down into different kinds of medical coverage. While one takes care of medical and dental expenses due to illness or injury on the trip, another deals with accidental death and dismemberment policy which functions as a life insurance policy. One cannot predict misfortune, and thus a medical coverage policy to cover any expenses following the misfortune proves to be extremely beneficial.
• Trip protection
Cancellation coverage and delay coverage both fall under the trip protection policy. Cancellation coverage includes reimbursement provided in case you cancel your trip due to illness or death of a family member. Delay coverage is a practical option to invest in, as any sort of emergency can come up due to which your trip may be affected. In this way, any unforeseen expenses are taken care of.
• Luggage/car rental protection
While on a business trip, if your rental car is damaged or stolen, you needn’t worry if you have opted for the car rental protection scheme. Since more responsibility and money is attached to a car that is rented rather than one which is owned, an insurance policy to cover any kind of unforeseen damage done to it is useful.
There are several benefits regarding travel insurance plans.
1. Medical Care: The most obvious benefit is that if you fall sick on your trip, you will be covered for any medical care you need. Make sure you understand the limitations of your policy, as some have upper limits set for the amount the insurance company will pay.
2. Medical Transport: A lot of insurance policies pay for you to be transported to a medical establishment, either by road or air ambulance.
3. Medical Evacuation: In the case of you being extremely sick and there not being a good hospital in your neighbourhood, you will be evacuated to the nearest good hospital for treatment, even if this means transporting you to another country.
4. Repatriation: Insurance companies will also pay for the cost to be returned to your home country after your medical treatment, along with a medical professional. All of this of course, is dependent on the insurance plan you opt for.
