During the process of quitting, many of us tend to become overwhelmed with negative thoughts, which can affect the outcome of our goals. Overtime these thoughts can become a huge burden on us and eventually we give in and succumb to smoking.
In order to make the journey of quitting easier, we must adopt a positive approach. Through the use of positive thinking and affirmations we can greatly increase our chances of success. Practice everyday turning your negative thoughts/emotions in positive ones. Remove doubt from your mind and replace it with a strong belief and faith that you will quit smoking.
Everyday that you encounter negative thoughts or conversations such as:
1) I don’t think I can quit
2) I receive a pleasure from smoking (not true)
3) I am weak-willed
Replace the thoughts above with positive ones as follows:
1) I know I will quit
2) I don’t receive any pleasure from smoking
3) I am strong-willed and will overcome this obstacle.
The examples above should be adpoted with any negative thoughts, emotions or conversations you may have. Change the negative into a positive. It will greatly enhance your chance of success. It will provide you with a new positive perspective on the situation.
