Tradition of Christmas Holiday

Christmas is grand festival of whole world and it is celebrated across the world with different traditions and cultures with different people of world. Decorating Christmas tree, greeting friends and relatives and exchange gifts like cakes, flowers, candles, chocolates etc.

Christmas is also known as Christmas day or Christmastide. It is celebrated on 25th December every year and honors the birth of Jesus Nazareth. There is holiday on Christmas. There are many traditions include on Christmas like gift giving, church celebration, various decorations including Christmas tree, lights, mistletoe, nativity scenes and holly. Santa Claus is also known as father of Christmas who is mythological figure who brings gifts on Christmas. Christmas is celebrated throughout Christian people who celebrate it with high dignity.

On the festival of Christmas, people celebrate this festival by decorating Christmas tree, share gifts with each other like cakes, flowers, chocolates and many more gifts which express love, happiness of festival and feeling for other. according to Christmas, Christmas chocolates, cake, mask, Christmas tree, bells on the crib, Christmas flowers in varieties, soft toys, sweets, jewelry, candles, apparels, leather gift items and many more attractive gifts with attractive packing are launched in shops which make this day glorious and delightful. Many of non-Christian celebrate this festival as a secular, cultural festival. The main meaning of Christmas word is ‘Christ’s masses’. Cristes is from Greek cristos and masse is from Latin missa. Xmas is also used as a contraction for Christmas. Although the modern solstice date is December 21 or 22, the Romans marked it on 25th December.

Many of writers believed that 25th December was the actual date Jesus was born. In the beginning of middle Ages, Christmas day was outshined by Epiphany, which in the west focused on the visit of the magi. In England, gifts were exchanged on New Year’s Day and there was special Christmas ale. The display of Christmas villages has also become culture in many homes and churches on this season. On the occasion of Christmas, people go at church and pray to Jesus, meet to their friends and relatives, decorate Christmas tree with lights, bells, candles etc. and share gifts, sweets, chocolates with friends and relatives.
