All that said; the point is that nobody can deny the importance of cordless power tool. For a worker, it is quite significant to have a good selection of cordless power tools and, how they should be used and how to take care your cordless tools.

There are so many cordless tools(drills, mitre saws, hammer drills, jigsaws, impact drills) and each has a unique use and needs a separate maintenance schedule. You have to be careful about your power tools as although they can be quite cost effective they are essential to your trade.

So, the question arises, how to look after your cordless tools?

Well, you simply have to follow a simple routine and you will be sorted.
Here are a few tips to look after your cordless tools:

1. Keep the power tool clean and dust free to ensure maximum efficiency. You can also wipe your power tools down and this would ensure that you are not at any risk of dust, paint and plaster entering the cooling vents. Also, periodically you should lubricate the moving parts of the tool- usually the rotating chuck.

2. Use a toolbox for your cordless tools. Each power tool should be placed at a designated place so that it gets easy to access them. Do not let tools lie idle on floor to be knocked around and dropped. Store these cordless tools in dry places also, the last thing you want is moisture in the motors!

3. Only a dull tool and cutting tips hurts the user, so ensure that the blades of the cutting tools are sharp. Metal and carbide blades should essentially be sharp and if applicable oiled.

4. Use a tool only for the work it is meant and designed to do. Any misuse is hazardous for the tool as well as for the user. Don't over work your tool and let it get too hot so that you cannot hold it. This is a sign its overheating!

Lastly, just don't ignore the importance of a well-charged and well-maintained battery. A half charged battery will only wear more on your power tools motor and in fact makes a nuisance out of the convenience of owning a cordless tool.

To prolong the battery life, wait until the charge gets to the minimum level and then, leave it to charge until it's fully charged. These days most of the battery charger models have indicators for power-levels. It would be best to have a charger with a similar indicator.
