Tiger Woods is successful not only on the golf course but off it as well. This past Wednesday he was privileged with the Charlie Bartlett Award after being honored by the Golf Writers Association of America.
The award was given to him for the labor he has made with his foundation, the Tiger Woods Foundation, which has reached out to nearly 10 million youthful people and has handed out more than $30 million in donations. He and his father, Earl, established the foundation back in 1996 and in 2000 it joined with Target Stores to create a new program called “Start Something”, which is a free program intended to help children from the ages of 8 through 17 in guiding them in identifying their goals.
Woods also has his doors open in the Tiger Woods Learning Center that consists of 35,000 square foot complex located in Anaheim, California. In the facility; around 5,000 people may enroll in an after school program that includes the following subjects: forensic science, engineering, and robotics.
Woods is very pleased and thankful to have been chosen for the award and extremely satisfied in having reached so many young lives. Among other accomplishments he also won the GWAA award, an award given to professional golfers for generous assistance to the betterment of society, and will be honored at the annual GWAA dinner on April 4th in Augusta, Georgia.
