Southern Peninsular Island is another name given to the island which takes the shape of the letter Y. Its low rise buildings and ban on automobiles makes this island serene and in harmony with its beautiful environment.

The southern part of this island does not have that many residents and can only be accessed by private boat or through treacherous hiking. It is also the breeding place of the Green Sea Turtles, an endangered species who lay their eggs during June to October of every year. During this period, access to this part of the island is restricted.

The northern part is the most populated part of the island and is most popular among the expatriates and the young. The area is full of pubs, seafood restaurants, shops which sell handicrafts, home ware to clothing. Hong Kong’s power station is also located within this area with its three tall distinctive chimney stacks it is visible from any of the surrounding Islands.
