The printing process involves a great deal of effort and most of us are not aware of the very hard complicated process of printing. Most of us are not even aware of the various processes that are available and how prints are done.

In this article we will try to highlight and bring some important facts about printing and its process that is followed in a typical printing company.

A printing company has nine types of printing options and they are: these are offset lithography, engraving, Thermography, reprographics, digital printing, letterpress, screen, flexography, gravure. Each process has its own performance and function this helps to acheive a very good final product that interests us in reading.

Offset lithography – mainly used for newspapers and magazines
Engraving – a delicate process used in fine quality stationery
Thermography – a type of raised printing used in stationery
Reprographics – the process of doubling and duplicating
Digital printing – uses computer technology and software
Letterpress - the original printing process that is nearly obsolete
Screen – this type of printing is used for T-shirts and billboards
Flexography – this printing is used for all kind of packaging and labeling techniques
Gravure – this printing is specially done and needed for huge runs of catalogs and magazines

Though offset lithography is the most widely used printing method, others too have their own importance that makes them necessary. A printing company has all such processes and machines that help us receive beautiful prints, no matter what the purpose. Technological advances in these machines have introduced us to a new age of printing.
