The Power of Accountability |
||||

It is important for us to take absolute responsibility for all that's going on. We should let go of excuses and good stories for not succeeding and adopt the three R's of accountability: recognition, responsibility and realizing. |

We've been conditioned to buy into many cases in our society that we don't need to get results, as long as we have a good story. But, good stories are defined as just being excuses. It’s like saying you’ll be somewhere, not making it, then telling a good story as to why you didn’t make it.
In the business world, it’s saying “I know I told you I'd produce this result, but let me tell you my good story.” Here's the thing, results do not equal no results plus a good story. Yet so many times people say I didn't get the results, but I've got this good story. They think that’s okay. That's not wealth achievement. That's not high achievement. So, what we need to do is learn to practice the three R's.
Recognize, first of all that every single thing we have in our life, we've created and attracted. We are constantly projecting outward and attracting inward who we are into our life. When we have less than pleasing results in our life, it doesn't do any good to get mad or upset, because you live in a perfect universe and this universe is consistently mirroring back to you where you have opportunities to learn and grow.
When you look at your results, it's just a mirror of who you are. It's like the universe saying “Hello, this is your 75th marriage. Are you going to wake up?” Or, “Hello, you're broke again. Are you gonna wake up?”
If we take those mirror images of ourselves and use them as tools and recognize that we've created them and taken responsibility for them, then we have the realization that we can create something different. That's where our lives truly begin to transform and to change.
Recognition says “Hey, it's me--it's not Mom and Dad. It's not the government. It's not the school system.” Number two, you take responsibility for what got created, and number three, realize that you can create something completely different.
