The Magic of Hugging |
||||
Recent studies show that there is a link between positive emotions and hugging. Hugging helps develop the overall well being that of a child. Hugging is also advocated by psychologist as one of the most valuable element in the development of the positive values of a child.
Children that are regularly hugged by their parents are said to be very communicative and affectionate while those who aren’t usually grow up distant not only to their parents but also to other people. That is because hugging is a form of gratitude, appreciation and acknowledgement to the child. A child who is hugged frequently by his or her parents eventually will have positive self perception.
The importance of hugging and physical contact in the development of the child can be attributed to the early fetal days of the child, when the warmth and tenderness of the mother’s womb rouses the feeling of being hugged; while the skin of the infant is covered with the warm amniotic fluid the whole time.
Parents that frequently hug their children are outfitted with emotional abilities that promote strong interpersonal interactions. As a matter of fact, hugging and other types of touch therapy are utilized by child experts to help abused children recover from emotional pain. Recent report proves that touch therapy is used a lot, particularly to children that are and may have been sexually abused. However, hugging is used with great caution and at a rate the child is comfortable with.
Hug therapy, if successful in these cases facilitates the restoration of the child’s ability to handle, to have faith in other people, and to expressively convey him or herself. It is also one of the many factors that are essential in forming healthy intimate relationships as an adult.
There are several distinctions between countries that “hug” and countries that are ‘hands-off’ countries. For example, toddlers in the United States placed in nurseries isolated from the rooms of their parents. This is not observed by other cultures and the babies are right away placed next to their mothers. Hugging is considered to have some sort of effect on cultural inclinations concerning aggressive behavior. Maybe that is the reason why there are some cultures that are more violent than others.
