There is one necessary piece of knowledge in order to be successful with Adwords.

The writing aspect of Adwords is ultimately the key to making money and having success with this advertising program. Do not worry or be discouraged if you dislike writing or feel that it is your weakest area of expertise. When it comes down to it, Adwords ads do not require or contain a lot of writing. There are many shortcuts and various tools that can help you. However, your main focus should always be writing your ads because it is the quality of your ads that will make you more money and generate maximum traffic with minimum cost.

When writing your ads there is a preset form already laid out for you which goes as follows: Headline, Description Line 1, Description Line 2, Display URL and Destination URL. Your headline should be as attention grabbing as possible. Your description line 1 should be the main benefit of the product. Your description line 2 should be the main feature of the product i.e. guaranteed. The display url is the website address that you are advertising. Lastly, the destination url is the exact website address where the visitor will be taken. Since the format is standard, you do not have to be exceptionally creative or clever with your ads, just follow the rules. Everyone has there own belief about writing ads, I believe that you should keep it simple especially when first starting out. There is no need to be cunning, you want to create some solid ads which you can always go back and fine tune later to achieve a better click-through rate or CTR.

The main principle of Adwords writing is that you must always be relevant to what people are actually searching for. Relevance is the key to achieving a high click-through rate and should always be your primary focus. In other words try to offer the precise solution or answer to the question that the user is searching for. This is exactly how you convert a user into a potential customer. For example lets say someone is searching Google for the best deals on truck rental and they come across these two ads:

Truck Rental Deals
Need to rent a truck?
Find best trucks, lowest prices here
URL

And:

Truck Rental
Find prices for truck rentals
Cheap truck rental reviewed
URL

Which ad do you think the user will click on? Most likely the user will click on the first ad every time. Both ads in actuality are related to what the user wants, but the first ad is so much more relevant to that persons specific need. Therefore, this user has a greater chance of being converted into a customer. As you can see, Adwords is not an enigma, it is all comes down to relevance.
