Owners with already trained dogs also use this collar to modify their dog's behavior. Just like in the case of deaf dogs, when the dog is at a distance or not facing the handler, this collar serves as substitute for verbally calling the dog's name.

Remote collar may be important to Dachshund training because Dachshunds are known to chase and hunt badgers and other animals such as birds, squirrels and lizards. These activities mean off-leash and far from handler and long distance communication can be difficult if proper tools are not being used. Using remote collar makes this kind of training easier.

However, some question the cruelty of this tool. They think that using electronic shocks is a form of cruelty to dogs and will cause problems such as physical and psychological concerns. Honestly, this problem largely depends on the handler or trainer. These tools will surely cause problems only if they're misused. It is important that before using any electronic training tool, make sure that you are aware of its functions and proper usage to prevent Dachshund training problems later.
