It one of the brightest nights after Diwali when the sisters pray for their brothers for their prosperity and good health along with long life. This done by performing a ceremony that is commonly known as the teeka ceremony and this is completed when the brothers give their sisters gifts thus the love of Bhai Dooj is completed.
The festivals combined together bring the families closer and brings in a better bonding between the family members during the festival. The festival of Bhai Dooj is celebrated in different manner in various states across the nation. The festival is named as Bhau Beej in the state of Maharashtra were the women worship the Moon God. The state of West Bengal is one of the best example of Bhai Dooj that is celebrates the festival under the name of Bhai Phota and is performed in a splendid manner.
