Thailand’s capital city Bangkok is one of the most exciting, sophisticated and modern cities in the world. It offers all the conveniences of a cosmopolitan as well as a rich cultural heritage. Dotted with over 400 glittering Buddhist temples, majestic palaces and traditional dance extravaganzas, Bangkok is a place you must visit. Whether you are interested in shopping, dinning, sightseeing or taking in a show it is a very exciting destination to visit.

If you are interested in experiencing the Thai culture the Wat Arun Festival is a must see. The festival revolves around the Wat Arun Temple, which is visited by thousands of devotees each day. Constructed in Khmer architectural style the most notable feature in this temple is its unique tall spire. When the first light of dawn reflects on the temples exterior it creates a pearly glow hence the name the Temple of Dawn which is the meaning of Wat Arun. The Wat Arun Festival is held annually in the month of November and one of its main objectives is to bring together the most talented traditional performing artists from all parts of the country in an effort to revive the rich cultural heritage and traditions among the locals and show their culture to tourists. Each year the festivals take a theme. The first of these festivals were organized under the theme “when history comes to life” which showcased some of the almost extinct and hard to find performing arts such as the Lakorn Nai, Lakorn Nok, Hun Luang. Thereafter the performances took the form of Chinese and Thai art like the Chinese Opera, Hainanese Puppets, Pah Booh, thrilling acrobatics and Cantonese Lion Play. These festivals are aimed to rekindle the Thai spirit among its society. In addition to participating in the festivals, visitors could also experience the authentic Thai delicacies which are available during this festival.

If you are interested in being part of the festivities, an ideal place to stay would be in Sukhumvit apartments. Located in a prime business district is the Grand President Bangkok, close to all the shopping malls, dinning and entertainment options the city has to offer. Staying at serviced apartments Bangkok will enrich your experience in this city with its combination of modern sophistication and ancient heritage.
