The Attack of the Bulldozer

So my question to you is, what bulldozer is after you? Maybe you don’t like to exercise. Are “I’m too busy,” “I’m too tired” or “I’ll do it later” frequent flyers off your lips? Believe me, I can relate. But what is going to get you if you don’t exercise your option of at least your 30 minutes, five days a week of moderate intensity exercise?

On a walk this winter in the “Frozen Tundra” of Green Bay, Wisconsin, I noticed a teenager sprinting by on the opposite sidewalk. It was an odd site and it caught my attention because she had a huge winter jacket on. Even in cold Green Bay, people don’t go running in parkas. Then I started laughing because I saw what she was running from. Up the block, a bulldozer as wide as the sidewalk was chasing her down. She had no option but to run.

Well, that was all good and funny until around 10 minutes later I heard a strange buzz over my iPod. Did MC Hammer change his groove? No, but as I removed my ear phones I heard something loud and getting louder behind me. The bulldozer was coming for me! It must have reached the end of the block and came over to my side to plow the sidewalk. I looked right and there was a fence. No escape right. I looked left and the snowdrifts were up to my chest. No escape left. Behind me was this crazed man in his little bulldozer and he wasn’t slowing down! I had to other option but to run for my life to the nearest intersection, parka and all.

This wasn’t funny anymore. I didn’t want to run. I had a pulled butt muscle, and we all know that that is a big problem. But regardless of what I felt, I had to run or risk not being found until the spring melt. I didn’t know I could run that fast. But I made it and jumped out of the way, just as full-throttle bulldozer man sped by. Whew. Such excitement.

What’s going to chase you down and knock you flat if you keep up the double portions, late night eating, stress snacking and “just one more bite?” Who in your life will be sad about that?

My friend, run! Before it is too late. Tight pants, feeling tired and crabby, heart disease and diabetes, watching life instead of living it…these aren’t for you! Enough is enough. Rise up, Rocky! Fight back. You are worth it.

Action Steps:
1. Identify your bulldozers. What is going to get you if you stay on your current path in body, mind and spirit?
2. How do you feel about that?
3. What action will you take today to move forward?
