One way to get around this is by camping abroad or to book a luxury camping holiday instead. The last few years have seen a rise of luxury camping options at campsites and festivals across the country and after a wider search, I found many more around the globe.
Luxury camping, or 'Glamping' means you can still have the 'Back to nature' experience whilst benefiting from drynes, warmth and having a really relaxing time.
After a quick search on the internet I found some great campsites offering teepees and yurts with wood burning stoves, furniture like four poster beds and even a heated king size water bed. Some places also offered breakfast in bed and relaxing therapy treatments.
At Glastonbury festival you can avoid the shared showers and portaloos (shared by 170,000 people!) and hire a luxury teepee, tepee or tipi however you want to spell it! They have hot showers and welcome packs include a pair of wellies.
These experiences don't come cheap however so if you'd rather bring your own tent but would like a bit of luxury, here are a few innovative and interesting products available on the market today.
1. Fist and foremost you'll need a pair of wellies, so go for some nice patterned ones to cheer up any rainy day.
2. Take a boot bag or a lots of plastic bags so that you can keep your mudddy boots seperate from your tent.
3. Invest in some welly warmers or thick chunky socks for that extra bit of warmth and comfort while wearing your wellies.
4. Your own solar shower kit which will make all the difference. You can buy a twenty litre capacity bag with a hose that you can hang in a tree and let the sun heat up the water for you. This would be really nice if you are free camping or staying at a very basic campsite without showers or dirty showers.
Other items that will make your stay feel more comfortable are chairs (inflatable or fold up), a new pillow, a big tent (I borrowed a nine man tent which was excellent on the rainy days with two children) and fleece blankets.
