Three Types of Children.
The Golden Child Can do no wrong. Perfect. Never any problems. Star of the team. Feels the pressure of having to remain perfect to keep golden child status. Overachiever, people pleaser, looks to others for acceptance and status. Worried and nervous.
The Let Down Child Can do nothing right. Nothing comes easy. Always problems. Doesn't even want to play on the team. Always feels like they are letting someone down. Can't please others so doesn't even try. Hates comparisons, especially to the golden child. Tends to rebel and drop out. Depressed and resentful.
The Accepted Child Sometimes right, sometimes wrong. Accepts flaws in themselves and others. May not be the star of the team but accepts their role to make the team successful. Not afraid to take a chance and fail. Sees themselves as part of the world.
Hopeful and optimistic.
I AM LOVABLE AND CAPABLE
I am lovable and capable. I am not perfect. I don't have to be. On a scale of 1 to 10 I am a 7. The things I am interested in I am an 8 or 9. The things I am not interested in I am probably a 4 or 5. Overall I am a 7 and that is OK.
I have worth. My worth cannot be measured by a grade point average or a scoreboard. The worth I have comes from the heart of my caretakers- people in this world who love me for me. Not for how I look or how I speak, but just for me. I recognize that others also have worth. Life is not only about me. My purpose in life is to share my gifts and talents with others. My greatest feelings of accomplishment come by helping, not getting. Through success and failure I remain the same. I am loveable and capable. I have worth. I am accepted for who I am.
