Choose a toothpaste that contains bacteria fighting flouride and offers maximum protection from gum disease and other kinds of bacteria that will only harm your gum and rot your teeth. Choosing a toothpaste that offers all of this in its ingredients will only help you be better equipped to have teeth that sparkle and shine and are free from harmful agents. The toothpaste will fight decay and will help you avoid expensive fillings and cavities.
During the day you drink coffee and sodas and a variety of other foods that could stain your teeth and cause them to yellow. Brushing twice a day with a good strong, powerful toothpaste helps you avoid this. This will offer you wonderfully bright and white teeth that will not only be healthier and plaque free, but also more beautiful to you and to others.
Flossing daily is imperative, no matter how uncomfortable or troublesome it may appear or feel. Hook pieces around your fingers and gently go around the body of each tooth so that you remove all food and plaque. Taking out this excess and hard to reach buildup helps you keep your gums clean and free from rotting bacteria. This is necessary for healthy gums and to prevent gingivitis.
Another way to protect your teeth is to prevent anything that will cause it inevitable damage and harm. Avoid alcoholic beverages and try to cut down on your soda and sugar intake. These things only rot your teeth and cause them to decay faster. Same with candy and cakes. Also, try to quit smoking because tobacco and any products that contain tobacco help erode your gums and cause gum disease. Even second hand smoke can assist in causing gum disease and so you need to make sure you avoid being around smokers or smoke.
Though these precautions can be taken in your own home, it is still very important that you go and visit a dentist regularly and have regular check ups. This might mean that you go to get x-rays and to make sure that all of your teeth are all right and in good health. Or it might mean that you need to schedule cleanings and have biannual cleanings to really get the tough stuff out and to overall protect your teeth.
