It's always better to hang your clothes dry if you have the time and the space. The friction and heat from a drying machine over time cause fibers to wear out faster.
The body of a shirt takes much less punishment than the collar and cuffs so if you have a good tailor you can sometimes have the collar and cuffs of a shirt replaced, giving your shirt a whole new life.
Wire hangers are a terror to all types of garments. The metal being thin gives little support and starts to stretch through fabric over time. Shirts and jackets take the shape of whatever they are hanging on, and when it's a wire, that wire starts to cut through the clothing. Always use hangars of wood or plastic that have a thick shoulder shape to them allowing your clothes to rest with the shoulders well supported.
Take care of your leather. Shining your shoes on a regular basis is one way of taking care of the uppers, though over time leather still dries out and can begin to crack. Waz polishes can fill in those cracks, but rotating your shoes and keeping shoe trees within them is a good way to prevent the early breakdown of your shoe leather.
