Standing On the Edge of a New Reality. Will you cross over or retreat?

Standing On the Edge of a New Reality. Will you cross over or retreat?

Author: Cathy Levalley

While you are waiting for a new business to take off or go through a major life change, there is always that period of waiting that occurs while all the events synchronize and you can cross over to a new reality. During this time, it can be a make it or break period for you, and the anticipation can cause some people to break the intention that was put forth and retreat back to a past comfort zone.

So you’ve made the big decision to make some changes in your life. You can’t explain it, but there is an inner voice that keeps nagging at you saying that life as it once was is just no longer acceptable.

For whatever change you have decided to make, no matter how large or how small, there is that one overwhelming part of the process that either makes or breaks your decision to hold steady as you create a new reality. It’s that rough waiting period when you are standing on the starting line just before you are allowed to break free and cross over into your new life of possibilities. It’s that brief time period that needs to occur to allow for all the synchronicities to align that is offered referred to as “in God’s time”. When you are anxiously standing at this line in anticipation, you have the choice to either wait out the challenges and move forward to enjoy your new life, or you can grow impatient and retreat back to your past comfort zone and try to act content.

Imagine that you are standing at the edge of a vast mountain canyon and you are looking out on the horizon. You are standing a few feet from the edge of the canyon where you feel safe from falling off the edge. Any time that you feel uncomfortable, you can retreat away from the edge of the canyon back to the safety of your car. The view is spectacular. The brilliant colors of the landscape seem endless and it brings to mind all the possibilities that are available to you with the new reality you are creating. You feel the strength of the mountains pour into your soul, and for just a split second, you feel you are invincible.

Your curiosity gets the better of you, and you want to see what is located at the bottom of this canyon, so you slowly walk closer to the edge. Just then, you notice a line has been drawn in the earth, just about one foot from the edge. If you cross over this line, you can see the spectacular scenery located at the very bottom of this canyon, but there is some risk involved. Because this line is so close to the edge, there is a chance you might fall. So you take a few moments to review the pros and cons of moving closer to the edge and crossing the line.

As you contemplate this, you realize you are taking small steps to get closer to the edge. You’ve become aware of the parts of your life that just didn’t suit your current desires, so you’ve started taking action to initiate some changes. As you do this, you find there are people in your life that support your decision and encourage you in any way they can. But there are also those in your life that are afraid of how the changes you are making will affect their life, so they react to their fear and send toxic messages to you to discourage you. You realize that you have a choice now. You can continue stepping forward toward the edge and put your focus on those positive messages of encouragement, or you can retreat back to the safety of your old life and secure the comfort zone of the negative people in your life.

You take just one more step toward that line near the edge as you think about the financial challenges that have occurred as a result of your decision to create a new reality. It may be necessary to let go of some of the old sources of financial security, and you may need to put trust in your own abilities to shield yourself from the emotions of fear and lack that may creep up into your thoughts. Once again, you now have a choice. You can see a potential period of financial instability as a burden and retreat back to your old sources of income, or your can ride out the potential storm one grey cloud at a time and know that when the clouds break away, there will be the bright light of the rainbow.

You’ve been so deep in thought that you just now notice you are standing right on top of the line drawn in the earth and you can just about see the bottom of the canyon. A bright sunbeam illuminates the canyon wall right in front of you and beckons you to take one more little step near the edge. Just one more step and you can see into the canyon of possibilities and experience the new reality your soul has been longing for.

Will you let the upcoming storm wash away the toxic thoughts and hold steady until the uncertainty passes and you can see the rainbow? Or will you retreat back to the comfort zone of your old life and hold regret inside? What does that inner voice tell you to do?
