South Jersey Homes-Burlington County Homes |
||||
Balanced. Beautiful. Burlington. This is the slogan for Burlington County, a comfortable niche of South Jersey homes that seems to have it all. Stretching from the Delaware River to the Atlantic Ocean's Great Bay, the 827 square miles of Burlington makes it the largest county in the state.
Amid the Burlington County homes are a number of agricultural beacons. The cranberry was first discovered in the Burlington wilderness - and in fact, Burlington is the third-largest cranberry producer in America. Burlington is not only the second-largest producer of blueberries in the nation, but it's also home to the biggest blueberries in the world! People living in South Jersey homes flock to Moorestown from mid-June through late October to indulge in the local farmer's market and pride themselves on the conservation of 25,000 acres of fertile farmland. In addition to wide open spaces, three-fifths of Burlington County is also comprised of the protected National Pinelands Reserve.
Jobs bring many people to Burlington County homes. Along the banks of the Delaware are major manufacturers like Ocean Spray Cranberries Corp, Viking Yacht Company, Ball Corp and Griffin Pipe Products Company. Other top employers in the area include Ikea, Burlington Coat Factory, CVS, Bed Bath & Beyond, Rent-A-Center, Office Depot, Dietz & Watson, Prince Sports Group, Freesias Medical Care and Caremark. Thanks to the revitalization of the River Route corridor (Route 130), retail businesses have proliferated. Barnes & Nobke, Pet Smart, OfficeMax, CompUSA, Dick's Sporting Goods, Target, Kohl’s and Home Depot reside in Burlington County. In the last decade, the county has added 62,000 new jobs and 3,500 new businesses.
A lot of former military personnel find their permanent niche in Burlington County homes as well. The military is consolidating its various bases - Fort Dix Army base, McGuire Airforce base and Lakehurst Naval base - into an $85 million "mega base."
The small town feel of the Burlington County homes in River Route communities is juxtaposed by the proximity to big city conveniences, which makes these South Jersey homes so desirable. Forget traffic jams, crime or costly living here; instead residents find a solid housing stock - from luxury townhomes and condos and brand new single family residences to historic colonials and 55+ active lifestyle communities.
According to the last real estate report, there are 5,000 Burlington County homes for sale (meaning it's a buyer's market) with a median sale price of $226,000.
The new Siena condominium community offers Burlington County homes for
55+ active lifestyle seniors who appreciate turn-of-the-century
Craftsmanship combined with modern day luxuries at an affordable price.
Ryan Homes is also developing three luxury communities within the county
- Rivers Edge (town homes along the Delaware River), Country Woods (38 single-family residences on wooded acreage) and Legacy (55+ town homes).
Of course these are just a few of the new South Jersey homes up for grabs since the Route 130 revitalization began. This comfortable corridor is likely to thrive in the coming years as modernization meets conservation.
