Corporate Gifts for New Hires
You may wonder what the point is in giving gifts to employees who have only just arrived to work within your company. After all, they haven’t yet proven that they’re a good worker, and they haven’t yet proven their company loyalty. However, it’s always good to start as you mean to go on, and let your new hires know from the very beginning that they’re a valued member of your company team.
Choosing appropriate gifts for new hires is easy. In essence they’re not so much gifts as they are a collection of items that they’ll need and use during their working life—but by making a formal presentation of these items, you can help make your new hires feel welcome from the very first day of their employment. Office supplies, paper products, a clock, calculator, mouse mat, coffee mug and other items are ideal. Giving items such as these doesn’t really cost you anything, as the employee will need these items for work, but if you are on hand to give them the items personally they’ll get a little morale boost right from the first day.
Corporate Gifts for Promotions
Promoting a valued employee is an ideal time to give a special corporate gift. Choose an item that they’ll use as part of their new position, or a decorative item for their work space such as a photo frame, and if your budget allows, perhaps add a bottle of wine to make the gift really special.
Corporate Gifts for Holidays and Special Events
Giving gifts during the holiday season and for special events in your employees’ lives such as weddings, anniversaries or births, is a great way of continuing to show your appreciation. These gifts should not be office-related—consider leisure or sports-related gifts, a bottle of wine, or another item that is related to your employees’ personal lives.
Corporate Gifts for Retirees
Presenting an employee with a special gift when they retire is an ideal way to thank them for their years of hard work and loyalty. A corporate gift for a retiring employee should be a special, personal gift. In this situation, work-related gifts are definitely not the way to go—particularly because as a retired person they’ll have no need of them. Make the presentation of the gift a formal occasion rather than a casual one—consider making the presentation in front of the retiree’s departmental colleagues, so that everyone can congratulate them on having reached retirement age and wish them well for the future.
