India is the land which was ruled by many kings and which flourished with great wealth in the ancient times. Mainly in the northern part of India, there are a wide range of forts and monuments that were constructed many centuries ago. One among these monuments worth gaining your notice is the Taj Mahal. This marvelous structure is located in Agra which is close to the capital city Delhi. This is also a wonder of the world. Taj Mahal is a tomb that was constructed by Shah Jahan for his third wife Mumtaz Mahal. It is a structure with unique designs and architectural marvel of its own. This cultural site is visited by millions across the globe, to feel the love expressed by Shah Jahan to his wife through the monument.
Close to Agra are other cultures cities of India. Jaipur which is also known as the pink city of India is filled with many monuments which carry a great heritage of India. The designs in the monuments, the culture of the city and the food defines the deep roots of culture that existed in India.
Belief of God and Hinduism was highly practiced as a part of culture and tradition in India. Like Mecca the holy place for Islamists, similarly the holy place for Hindus is the Kashi. Ganges, the holy river in its journey crosses many places and Kashi and Haridwar are some of the places. It is believed that a person whose passes away in Kashi directly moves to heaven. This is a great place to experience the cultural heritage and know the practices and beliefs of Indians.
India was a land not just with Hinduism but with other religions too. The other religions were Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism and others. The Golden Temple which is the holy place for Sikhs is located in Amritsar in Punjab and is covered with gold plating. Though most of the cultural heritage sites lie in North India, as you move south you can find a huge diversity and change in people. The culture and the food habits in south India is highly influenced by the cultural heritage from the past.
Kerala which is known as the Gods own country has some beautiful temples which were built many years ago. Sri Padmanabaswamy temple is a temple in Kerala which has the Hindu god called Vishnu in his sleeping posture.
