In that case, do not be frustrated. It is easy to be frustrated when this happens to your usually trusty Dell printer, especially when the print job that you need to do is pretty urgent, but there are ways of getting around whatever printing issues you may be experiencing with your Dell printer.

Administering “First Aid" Treatment to Your Dell Printer

In case the printouts being produced by your Dell printer are not presentable in that there are spots or smudges or horizontal line, solving the problem could be as easy as unplugging the machine for a few minutes before resuming the printing job.

If the printing issues that you have are still there, however, you may want to look at the Dell Solution Center software installed in your computer. If you are using Windows Vista, you just need to click on All Programs on the Start Menu of Vista, then click on Dell Printers, and then open the Dell Solution Center.

Once the software is running, click on Maintenance, and then choose the “Clean to Fix Horizontal Streaks" option. It should produce a Nozzle Clean printout. But if the printout is still smudgy and streaky, then you should open the printer, clean the nozzle manually as well as the connection points on the printer ink cartridges. Doing this twice or thrice usually resolves most printing issues with the Dell printer. You may have to check out the encoder strip on your Dell printer as well and clean it too.

Checking the Ink Cartridges

Maybe the printing issues you are having with your Dell printer is not so much as a problem with the printer itself but with the ink cartridges you are using. As mentioned above, check out if the connection points on the cartridges are clean so as not to hamper the printing process.

You may also want to see if there is still ink in the cartridge. A lot of printing issues lie with the fact that the ink cartridge is almost empty. You may want to get yourself some new Dell printer ink cartridges in this case.

When All Else Fails

If none of your first aid remedies for your printing issues work, you can get additional help by checking out the Dell official website or by calling the Dell customer service hotline. You may have to prepare yourself to have your Dell printer pulled out for repairs.
