In a practical scenario, when you boot up your Windows NT-based operating system, you might come across the following error message:
“STOP: 0x00000058
FTDISK_INTERNAL_ERROR”
The computer is booted from the revived primary hard drive partitions, thus hives shows that mirror is working fine, while in fact it is not true. Actual image of hives are stored on shadow drive. You need to boot the system from shadow drive.
If due to any reason, the primary OS drive goes off-line or fails in RAID array level-1 mirrored configuration, Microsoft Windows NT keep running from mirrored drive and the flags registry hives on current drive for reflecting broken mirror.
In such cases, if you perform normal shutdown, revive primary OS drive and carry out a general boot, the STOP:0x58 FTDISK_INTERNAL_ERROR error appears.
Microsoft Windows NT use the protection mechanism as continued process on shadow drive, when primary drive is not on-line. The data stored on shadow drive will be lost, when you boot the system from primary drive again.
In order to sort out this problem and perform windows file recovery, you need to manually break the mirror. If you are not much technical to do so, you can go through alternative recovery method. This method is very fast, but might cause serious file loss situations in some cases. It is performed using the MS Windows Fault Tolerant boot disk.
In case if file loss situations occur, you need to use data recovery software to scan the affected drive and retrieve data from it. Such file recovery applications work in most of the data loss situations like file system corruption, operating system malfunction, hard drive formatting and so forth. The tools have interactive and simple graphical user interface and thus let you perform recovery on your own.
Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is the most effective and powerful tool to recover all types of lost, missing and inaccessible files. It recovers files from FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file system partitions. The software works well with Windows 7, Vista, 2003, XP and 2000.
