Consider a scenario wherein you have a Windows Vista system. When you switch it on, it hangs at a blue screen displaying the following error message:
“The PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA bug check has a value of 0x00000050. This indicates that invalid system memory has been referenced.”
Cause:
There could be following reasons for this abnormal behavior:
Faulty hardware such as defective RAM.
Faulty system service
Incompatible antivirus application
Corrupted NTFS volume
Resolution:
To resolve this situation, you should perform the following methods:
Rectify faulty hardware problem: If you have recently added a new hardware component, then remove it to check whether the error reappears. Try replacing or removing the hardware component. If the hard disk is SCSI, then check for problems between the SCSI controller and the hard disk.
Rectify faulty system service problem: Use the Last known good configuration option in the Advanced Options menu during system startup.
Rectify corrupted NTFS volume: If the previous methods do not work, then you should repair the corrupted NTFS volume by performing the following steps:
Insert the Windows 2000 CD-ROM in the disk drive.
Enter the Recovery Console by pressing R.
At the prompt, enter the following command to repair the disk errors, if any, and press Enter:
chkdsk /f /r
Restart the system.
The aforementioned methods should be able to resolve the problem. However, if the problem is persisting then you should use a third-party NTFS file recovery software to recover the inaccessible data. Such read-only tools are able to perform NTFS data recovery using fast yet sophisticated scanning algorithms.
NTFS Data Recovery is an NTFS partition recovery software that recovers lost, deleted, or inaccessible data from NTFS-based systems. It is capable of recovering data from NTFS and NTFS5 file systems.
