Cause:
The most possible cause of the aforementioned error message is that the table in question has a self-join and Memo field. Also, it has referential integrity enforced upon it. That's why you are not able to use the append query. Another reason for the error message is that the table is corrupt.

Resolution:
To resolve this error, you should change the Memo fields to Text fields. You can also move the Memo fields to another table and then use a 1:1 relationship between the tables. These methods should be able to resolve the issue. However, if you are still not able to address the situation it means that the table is corrupt.
