• Nitrous Oxide, which is very much like oral sedation, but it is given through a mask while the patient is in the chair. It takes effect very quickly, but it also wears off faster than the pills. After nitrous, a patient can drive home.

There is a lot being done to help the overall dental experience have a more positive atmosphere. Many offices have fish tanks and running water to make you more relaxed. Some dentists have warm blankets and pillows and fancy chairs to make you comfortable. Wearing headphones with music has also been a very popular approach.
