Some of these steps are easier to make as compared to others but all these points are vital to success.
ONE: What do you plan to do before you make the final switch? If you have a clear and practical vision of what you are going to do ahead and how it is going to work then go ahead and do it. But just because you think your plan will work, does not prove it to be a workable plan. Take training classes or get in touch with an expert who can help you in figuring out your plan on practical basis.
TWO: Once you have a clear vision, create a business plan. Business plan must be as formal as it can be such as if you are embarking on a business that needs financing, you must mention the financing sources in the plan. Rest you must include clear description of your business, target market and a marketing plan. Take keen interest in developing a formal business plan based on real information as it can make you stand out the competition.
THREE: Have you conducted the research about the market demand for your product or service? Even the big companies do not send out their products in the market without analyzing the demand of their products. Make sure your target market will like your products before you deliver them in the market. Who want your product and what is the percentage of people who might respond favorably to your products? Once you get the answers to these questions, it will become easier for you to decide what to do further.
FOUR: In wholesale business, before practically starting the business it is necessary to decide the product sourcing. It is good to know whom you are contacting for products; either they are manufacturers, dropshippers or distributors. You can also get products from tradeshows, local vendors and suppliers of your category of business. Develop relationship with the reliable ones to get the products at better pricing from them in future. Also think about shipping costs, freight costs and delivery charges as your pricing system accounts for this. Product return policy must also be taken care with the suppliers, you have chosen.
FIVE: Prime location plays an important role in the success of wholesale business. Although today it is not as vital as it was once in past because today a business is as far as your computer is from you. With the help of internet, convenient payment system and credit cards people can buy any time anywhere. Still location is important to decide as mostly local and sometimes international buyers want to see where your business is located. Choose location carefully as it can make tremendous difference to your business.
This is all but the last advice is to keep your plan current and flexible enough to make changes according to your customer demands.
