If you are worried as you are reading this, do not be. There is nothing technically wrong with the programmable coffee maker, however, this coffee maker is really not meant for certain group of folks.

This is something that coffee company would not want you to know, if they can, they would gladly tell you that it would be beneficial to own 10 coffee makers! They are in essence, a profit making company, and selling more and selling high is the order of the day.

Now, back to the topic on who are the folks that is not suitable for a programmable coffee maker. They are the single folks that are living alone in very small apartments.

Coffee maker that is programmable is great for family where the mother would prepare the breakfast for the family and appreciate a brew pot of coffee that is already brewed to alleviate her load in the morning.

The value add of such coffee makers is its ability to brew up to 12 cups of coffee, it can be programmed to brew at the time breakfast is served. However, because of this 2 functions, these programmable coffee machines is also quite bulky and yes, you need to brew more than one cup of coffee.

So, if you are a single person living in a small apartment, you can see why this coffee maker is not for you right? Firstly, the size of this coffee maker would mean that you probably have to discard some of your kitchenware to accommodate this machine.

Then, because it always brews more than one cup of coffee. Unless you really drink a lot of coffee, there would bound to be wastage.

Lastly, this range of coffee makers requires maintenance, regular cleaning and flushing. Being single, I am sure this is something that you would not like to do during your free time, right?

If you are still reading, then the above criteria might not apply to you and you would like to know of a good programmable coffee maker. In this article, I would like to recommend Sunbeam HDX23 Programmable Coffee Maker.

I am not trying to be special, the reason why I am reviewing Sunbeam, is because I felt that too much focus has been placed on "big brands" like Bunn or Mr coffee. And many people might not be aware about the strengths of these smaller brands.

The fact is, some of these coffee makers boast of features that you would not find in some of the bigger brands and of course, the price point for the smaller brands are also lower. So, what you are getting would be better features for lower price point, isn't that a bargain?

One of the feature that is exclusive to Oster/Sunbeam would be Fresh Brew Timer. This is a timer that shows you on long the coffee is in waiting, so that at one glance you would know if the coffee is still drinkable.

The rule of thumb is, if the coffee has been on the warmer plate for more than 30 minutes, it is unlikely that the coffee would taste good, So do take note of that!

There you have it, my take on who is suitable for a programmable coffee maker and a brand you can consider if you are looking for one...
