Technically, the definition of surveillance says that surveillance deals with continuously observing either an object such as a building or a car, or a person. It allows you to gather information about the object or person and understanding their behaviours and activities.

Intensity of the surveillance activity will depends on available budget. Modern high-tech equipments are provided to the sleuths for surveillance purposes which help in making their job easier, more accurate and less time consuming. Accuracy of these results is of prime importance as they decide the court’s judgment over the fate of millions of bucks. It may be required that a number of sleuths should be appointed for observing the subject all the time.

If at any time the subject starts to feel suspicious that he/she is been tracked, the investigators will be required to spread out thin. Also, if the tailing of the subject is being done on foot, it becomes essential that the sleuths change over from every now and then as otherwise the subject may become suspicious if he sees someone around him continuously. To prevent this suspicion from occurring, sleuths can either work in teams or wear disguises while following the subject. Similarly, if the subject is being followed from some single car, he may become suspicious, especially during long journeys. Hence, it is advisable to use more than one car for tailing purpose.

Surveillance is considered to be the most practiced activity by sleuths.
