T-Mobile create their own version of Orange’s old Value Promise promotion.

You may remember many moons ago; Orange released the Orange Value Promise tariffs. The Value Promise tariffs matched tariffs from other networks giving new and existing customers the benefit of having the same tariff as a rival network but having a contract with Orange. These tariffs have since become extinct, but T-Mobile have realised that matching rival networks tariffs is a good idea to keep old customers as well as gaining new ones!

T-Mobiles offer to match or beat like for like tariffs (presumably this means tariffs that also cost £30 per month, and are also the same contract length) offered by the other four major networks (O2, Orange, Three and Vodafone) is available to new and existing customers on £30 per month Solo and Combi contract tariffs.

The new match or beat tariff commitment has been introduced due to customer feedback on how frustrating it is trying to find the best mobile phone deal. You need to take into account your usage, your price range and which network offers the best value for money. It’s no wonder customers get confused and frustrated!

So how do the other networks compare against T-Mobiles £30 Combi and Solo tariffs. The standard £30 Combi tariff includes 600 cross network minutes and 400 text messages and the standard £30 Solo (sim only) tariff includes 1400 cross network minutes and 500 text messages. T-Mobile are currently running a promotion that gives customers unlimited text messages with both tariffs for no extra cost.

The only tariff that currently beats the standard Combi tariff is Three’s Mix and Match 1100, 18 month contract for £29 per month which gives you 1100 units to use as you like. 1 unit = 1 minute of call time or 1 text message. For example you could use 600 minutes and 500 text messages or 700 minutes and 400 text messages. This is £1 cheaper than the T-Mobile Combi tariff and either 100 more minutes or 100 more text messages.

The O2 Online Simplicity £30 tariff offers 1200 minutes and 1000 text messages. This gives 500 more text messages than the standard Solo tariff but 200 less cross network minutes, although the Simplicity tariff does also have the added benefit of unlimited own network calls.

Whichever tariff you opt for do your research first to make sure you receive the best value for money.
