So, you have finished your podcast. After setting up all your equipment, adding finishing touches to your editing, and finally uploading your podcast to the web, how do you get people to listen to your podcast? |

Word of mouth is an effective way of getting your podcast out there; emailing your friends and acquaintances can be very beneficial. Don't be bashful about telling your friends, family, clients, co-workers, or customers about your podcast. Word of mouth can be very powerful, and friends and family are often a great initial source of important backlinks to your website/podcast.
Make it a point to contact other podcasters. People who make podcasts tend to listen to lots of other podcasts themselves. Many podcasters are more than happy to trade links with others who have created high quality podcasts; trading links is beneficial to both podcasters.
Spend some time browsing and participate in forums, both general podcasting forums, and forums on your podcast topic. DO NOT SPAM THE FORUMS! Leaving messages such as "Visit my podcast" do not contribute to a forum, and are frowned upon by other users, and often overlooked.
Take your time and leave informative and read-worthy posts; be sure to leave your podcast information and your website/podcast URL.
Take the time to submit your site/podcast to all major search directories, as these are a major source of all web traffic. Also be sure to submit your podcast to several podcast directories, as well as any other niche directories that your podcast may cover. The listeners that will find you through these submission listings will make it well worth the short amount of time it took to submit your site/podcast.
